Glastonbury’s Smith Brothers Insurance said it has purchased the assets of Waterford’s Atlantic Insurance.
Joe B. Smith said in a statement that his company intends to move its Groton office to Atlantic’s Route 1 office in Waterford. Atlantic offers personal and casualty lines, as well as individual health insurance products.
Atlantic has three employees, including President Roger Evans, who will serve as director of the Waterford office under Smith.
Evans said that the deal expands his operation’s product offerings to customers.
Smith Brothers, which also has offices in Southington and Massachusetts, acquired its Groton business in 2010 when it bought the insurance agency assets of Charter Oak Federal Credit Union.
Smith has 120 Connecticut employees.
