Engineer Steven J. Smidler began his first day Wednesday as president of Kaman Corp.’s industrial-parts distribution unit, the Bloomfield aerospace-industrial firm says.
T. Jack Cahill, who for 17 years ran Kaman Industrial Technologies Corp., retired Tuesday as president.
Kaman announced in June Smidler’s promotion and Cahill’s plans to retire.
Smidler, 51, was KIT’s chief operating officer since joining the company last December from the Lenze Americas Corp. unit of German industrial manufacturer Lenze Group.
KIT’s five distribution centers and 200 service centers supply a catalog of some two million parts used in, among other things, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
