National electronics repair franchise uBreakiFix has opened a new Connecticut location in Shelton.
The shop at 901 Bridgeport Ave. is one of four owned by Connecticut franchisees Steve Gardner and Chris Laraia, who also operate stores in Norwalk, Darien and Stamford.
Gardner and Laraia said they opened the Shelton store to give their existing northern Fairfield County and New Haven County customers a more convenient commute.
“We already service so many wonderful locals and businesses from the Shelton community, but also recognize that our existing locations are a bit far to travel for device repair,” Gardner said in a statement. He said the expansion comes as people are more reliant than ever on technology to stay connected during the pandemic.
Millennial entrepreneurs Justin Wetherill and David Reiff founded the company in Orlando, Florida in 2009 and began franchising the company in 2013.
It began as a smartphone repair service but says it now fixes “anything with a power button,” including tablets, computers, drones, hoverboards and game consoles.
The company operates more than 600 stores throughout the U.S. and Canada, including nine in Connecticut, with two more planned for Hamden and Norwich.
