Small banquet hall planned for Windsor Locks plaza

New owners of a Windsor Locks plaza are looking to turn one storefront into a small banquet facility and events hall.

Applicant 5 National Windsor LLC has submitted a special permit and site plan application to the town Planning and Zoning Commission for a 1,280-square-foot banquet facility in unit #2 of the multi-tenant plaza at 5 National Drive.

Built in 1984, the 24,000-square-foot, one-story plaza has nine tenant spaces, with the banquet facility planned for one of the smallest spaces.

The plaza is near Bradley International Airport and other developing retail centers in the vicinity.

Other storefronts in the plaza range in size from 1,500 square feet up to nearly 5,000 and 6,500 square feet.

The plaza was recently sold by South Windsor-based PL Windsor LLC and principal Jeffrey Harbey to Ellington-based 5 National Windsor LLC and principal Douglas and Jesse Schneider for $850,000 in a deal recorded Feb. 24.

Plans call for an events facility for up to 65 people, with two restrooms, a refrigerator, food preparation table and buffet-style food service table. The room can hold multiple rectangular or round tables for multiple guests each.

The plans will go to a public hearing before the commission in town hall Monday night.
