There have been six arrests as a result of an investigation by the state Department of Consumer Protection in the Connecticut Lottery’s 5 Card Cash game.
A consumer protection department spokesperson said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests can be expected.
Some of those arrested were lottery ticket vendors. All those arrested have been charged with first-degree larceny, first-degree computer crimes, and rigging a game.
Investigators caught onto the game manipulation when the number of winners exceeded the parameters normal for the game. The 5 Card Cash game has been suspended since November.
Those arrested, according to DCP, were:
- Pranav Patel, of 17 Revere Dr. Bloomfield, posted a bond of $25,000;
- Vikas Patel, of 644 Windsor Ave., Windsor, posted a bond of $25,000;
- Prakuni Patel of 37 Jobs Road, Wallingford, detained on $350,000 bond on March 1, 2016 at Meriden Superior Court;
- Sedat Kurutan, of 23 Wild Cherry Dr. Naugatuck, posted a $3,500 non-surety bond;
- Rahul Gandhi, of 37 Jobs Rd. Wallingford, detained on $350,000 bond on March 4, 2016 at New Haven Superior Court; and,
- Moinuddin Saiyed, of 11 Freedman Dr. Norwalk, posted $25,000 non-surety bond.
