Simsbury’s Poochie-Pets LLC signed an expanded distribution deal to introduce its line of pets’ accessories across Europe.
Made for Dogs, based in The Netherlands, was named Poochie-Pets’ exclusive European distributor, cementing a relationship the pair began three years ago, officials said Tuesday.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Simsbury businesswoman Cheryl Pederson launched Poochie-Pets with $50,000 — mostly from credit cards — in 2005 in her basement after struggling to find items for her pets in traditional pet stores.
Pederson’s first product was Poochie-Bells that, when dangled from a doorknob, alert that the pet needs a bathroom break.
Her products are sold in nearly all 50 states. Poochie-Pets had an existing distribution deal for Switzerland.
