The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency selected Simsbury as one of 56 communities in the country to receive special assistance in smart growth.
The Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities program will provide Simsbury with technical experts to improve the economy, environment and quality of life, which can include increasing transportation options, building more housing and incorporating green infrastructure.
The program is a joint-project between EPA, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and coordinates federal investments in the selected communities.
Simsbury was one of six New England communities selected for the program and the only one from Connecticut.
