Simsbury Bank casts its lending net westward

Simsbury Bank is asking state bank regulators for permission to open a housing-loan production office in Middlebury, the first beyond its core Farmington Valley market.

The state Department of Banking must sign off before a bank opens a branch or satellite loan office.

The office at 850 Straits Turnpike would offer full service home loan services including conforming and government mortgages as well as home equity loans and lines of credit, mortgage and consumer-lending chief David MacKenzie said Wednesday.

The 1,000-square-foot outpost will be staffed with four, a spokeswoman said.

CEO Martin Geitz said in a statement the move fits the Farmington Valley lender’s “growth strategy to invest in the expansion of our home lending business throughout Southern New England.’’

Its four branch-loan offices are in Avon, Bloomfield, Granby and Simsbury.
