Sikorsky Aircraft Corp.’s high-speed experimental X2 helicopter has won the aerospace industry’s prestigious Robert J. Collier Trophy for 2010, the Stratford company says.
The honor comes six months after the X2 set an unofficial helicopter speed record of 250 knots in level flight.
The annual award recognizes the best achievements in aeronautics and astronautics in the U.S.
The trophy will be presented May 5 at the annual Collier dinner in Arlington, Va.
