Stratford helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. is tripling the size of its in-country Blackhawk maintenance service team in Colombia, as the company repairs seven helicopters in the South American country.
The Sikorsky service division, Sikorsky Aerospace Service is working to structurally repair seven damaged Blackhawk helicopters used by the Colombian Army, in order to keep the country’s entire Blackhawk fleet operationally ready.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Colombia has been a Sikorsky customer for 30 years and has the fourth largest Blackhawk fleet in the world.
Sikorsky is a subsidiary of Hartford conglomerate United Technologies Corp.
