Sikorsky launches 2nd tech challenge

Stratford helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. is launching a second entrepreneurial challenge looking for new technology for its aerospace and rotorcraft markets.

The company’s development arm, Sikorsky Innovations, held the first entrepreneurial challenge this pring. In July, the company picked Pankl Aerospace Innovations of California to develop a concept for more camouflaged helicopters with bionically inspired rotor blades.

The competition is open to any small company with less than $5 million in revenue. Applicants must answer five challenge questions about their proposals, and the winner will be picked on business potential, feasibility, value proposition, and team expertise.

The winner receives one year of free utilization of predetermined space at the Stamford Innovation Center and participating with a three-month Sikorsky education program to provide technical and business strategy guidance.

Applications are due Oct. 10.
