Sikorsky inks deal with Denmark

Shelton helicopter aftermarket division Sikorsky Aerospace Services on Tuesday signed an agreement with Denmark aerospace defense company Danish Aerotech of Denmark.

Should the Scandinavian country decide to outfit its Royal Danish Navy with Sikorsky’s Seahawk helicopters, Aerotech will work with Sikorsky to provide logistic suppor.

That support includes material distribution, aircraft modifications and life-cycle support. Sikorsky Aerospace Services is a division of Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft Corp, which in turn is a subsidiary of Hartford-based United Technologies Corp.

Denmark – through its Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization – is considering the Seahawk for its navy’s helicopter replacement program. The country will make a decision sometime this year.

Sikorsky has delivered more than 100 Seahawks since 2006, all to the U.S. Navy. The aircraft is capable of providing a large surveillance area protecting U.S. Navy ships. Denmark would use the helicopters for its national operations and international missions of transport, surveillance and search and rescue operations.
