As it prepares to be the helicopter of choice for the White House, Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. has delivered one of its aeromachines to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan.
Sikorsky this week announced the delivery the first of its two VIP 2-92 helicopters to the Turkish National Police to use for the office of the prime minister, under a contract signed in 2011. The second S-92 will be delivered later this year.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Sikorsky is a subsidiary of Hartford conglomerate United Technologies Corp.
With the Turkish delivery, the S-92 now transports the head of state in 10 countries. This summer, Sikorsky will offer the S-92 platform formally to the U.S. government, which is seeking to replace the Marine One helicopter for the president.
