Helicopter maker Sikorsky has notified 600 employees, most of them in Connecticut, that it is eliminating their jobs because of “challenging and unstable conditions,” Spokesman Paul Jackson confirmed.
The layoffs, which will happen over the next several weeks, are split among hourly and salaried workers, Jackson said.
Sikorsky has about 8,200 employees in Connecticut.
“These decisions are always difficult to make but necessary to protect the company’s competitiveness and future,” Jackson said in an email.
