Sikorsky Credit Union has applied to the state Department of Banking seeking approval to merge with McKesson Federal Credit Union.
Sikorsky is based in Stratford, and it also has locations in Bridgeport, Brookfield, Milford, Seymour, Shelton and Trumbull.Â
McKesson has its main office in Stratford, with additional locations at Griffin Hospital in Derby and at Bridgeport Hospital’s Milford campus.
Under the plan, McKesson, a federal credit union founded in 1937, would merge into Sikorsky, a Connecticut credit union, with the resulting entity to operate as a Connecticut credit union, according to the Department of Banking.
State law requires Department of Banking Commissioner Jorge L. Perez to approve such a merger.
The merger application was filed on Feb. 21. The proposal is for the merger to go into effect as of June 30.
In November, Sikorsky also applied for approval for a merger with the Bridgeport City Employees Federal Credit Union, with a proposed effective date of March 31.
