Stratford helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky said it has added a $25,000 cash prize to its sixth annual entrepreneurial challenge.
The challenge seeks companies with technology that Sikorsky could apply to vertical flight. In past challenges, Sikorsky has offered a year of rent-free space in its Stamford incubator, as well as mentoring and other services. The sixth challenge, which will conclude in February 2016, is the first with a cash prize, which is non-dilutive to any future ownership agreements.
Sikorsky is specifically looking for technology concepts involving energy storage, sensors, virtual reality or 3D printing.
Sikorsky also announced that it is evaluating its potential next steps with Rescale, a San Francisco cloud simulation company that received an award during its 2013 challenge for its ability to speed and enhance product collaboration between engineers and designers.
