Officials of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center sign the final beam that will go into the hospital’s new John T. O’Connell Tower, which was topped off on Oct. 29. Saint Francis employees are adding their names to the beam, which will crown the 10-story building, expected to begin operations in mid-2011. The tower is named in memory of John T. O’Connell, who was treated at Saint Francis for cancer prior to this death in 1996, in recognition of a gift from his parents, Nancy and Daniel O’Connell, of South Glastonbury.
