SHU promotes McCabe to finance SVP

Philip McCabe, vice president for finance at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, will be promoted to senior vice president for finance effective June 1. He assumes the position upon the retirement of current SVP Michael Kinney

In his new office McCabe will report directly to SHU President John Petillo. “Phil has led innovations in systems and processes to support the university’s growth in size and complexity during his tenure,” said Petillo in announcing the promotion. “He has played important roles, both internal and external, in many strategic initiatives.” 

McCabe began his Sacred Heart career in 2000, when he was hired as the assistant vice president for finance. Before that McCabe had a 23-year career in the financial services and insurance industry, working for Prudential, Mass Mutual and the Hartford Insurance Group.

McCabe holds a BS in accounting from Siena College and a master’s in finance and management from the Hartford Graduate Center of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Hartford has appointed Liz Bryden, LCSW chief operating officer. In this role Bryden will coordinate, supervise and direct program operations in the tri-county (New Haven, Hartford and Litchfield) area. Most recently Bryden was senior vice president of the Village for Families in Children, where she worked for 18 years. Before that she was chief operating officer of the Walker Home & School in Needham, Mass. She earned a BA in psychology from the University of Rochester and her MSW from Rhode Island College.
