Shopping for next year’s health insurance plans begins Tuesday, Nov. 1, for customers of the state’s exchange, Access Health CT.
Open enrollment, the time period during which customers can shop for and enroll in health insurance plans for the upcoming year, continues through Jan. 31, 2017.
Access Health CT leaders Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, board chair, and James Wadleigh, CEO, announced the fourth annual open enrollment period Monday. After uncertainty regarding ConnectiCare’s participation in the state exchange, the Farmington insurer said in mid-September it would stay in the program. Anthem is the only other provider in the network.

“Starting tomorrow consumers can shop for and enroll in affordable healthcare coverage through our state’s exchange, Access Health CT,” Wyman said. “Consumers can explore plan options and find information online, on the phone, and in person all across the state. We want consumers to understand their healthcare plan options.”
If consumers enroll by Dec. 15, coverage will begin Jan. 1 with no gaps, Wadleigh said.
“We’re trying to help people avoid any gaps in coverage, and most importantly avoid having to pay the penalty for not having coverage,” he added.
Customers can enroll in health care online at learn.accesshealthct.com, by phone, or by visiting new storefronts in New Britain or New Haven. Community enrollment partners are also available in East Hartford, Norwich or Stamford.
