The National Association of Home Builders has issued a “toolkit” to its members nationwide explaining last year’s landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision in Koontz vs. St. Johns River Water Management District.
In addition to online written materials, the toolkit includes a video featuring Tim Hollister, a partner in Shipman & Goodwin’s Hartford office and co-chair of the firm’s real estate, environmental and land use practice group.
In the video, Hollister explains the Koontz case and its implications for land use law for both private property owners and public agencies.
The Koontz case, which stems from a dispute in Orlando, Fla., involved the authority of public agencies to impose conditions of approval on land use permits.
Human Resource Association of Central CT receives Platinum Award
The Society for Human Resource Management has awarded the Human Resource Association of Central Connecticut the EXCEL Platinum Award for 2013.
The award recognizes a state’s accomplishments and strategic activities and initiatives that promote the human resources profession at the local level.
HRACC is being recognized for its many initiatives including its employment connection program that helps members in transition look for new job opportunities; an annual scholarship for college students; and members’ participation in work readiness workshops for high school students in Greater Hartford.
Hospital recognized with national awards for stroke and cardiology programs
The Hospital of Central Connecticut has been recognized nationally with three awards related to its stroke and cardiology programs.
HOCC received the Get With The Guidelines — Stroke Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award and its Heart Failure Bronze Quality Achievement Award after implementing key quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association and American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology Foundation, respectively.
In addition, the hospital received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline Bronze Plus Receiving Quality Achievement Award for implementing quality improvement measures to treat ST-elevation myocardial infarction heart attacks.
Connecticut Innovations Named to Entrepreneur’s VC100 List
The state’s quasi-public venture capital arm Connecticut Innovations has been named to Entrepreneur’s VC100 list, which identifies the most active venture capital firms funding U.S. startups.
The VC 100 list of top early-stage venture capital firms is based on data from PitchBook.
The firms are ranked by total capital invested in seed and/or early stage venture capital deals that were completed in the U.S. during 2013. CI has helped bring $4 billion in financing to Connecticut companies.
