🔒Shipman & Goodwin adds former CT health policy official

Law firm Shipman & Goodwin LLP has added a former senior state health policy official to its healthcare practice group. The Connecticut law firm announced Monday that W. Boyd Jackson has joined the firm as counsel in its Health Law Practice Group. Jackson joins the firm after serving as director of legislation and regulation at the Connecticut Office of Health Strategy, the state agency responsible for regulating certain healthcare transactions and overseeing Connecticut's Certificate of Need program. Under legislation approved this year, OHS will be dissolved and its CON responsibilities transferred to the Department of Public Health in 2027. Jackson will advise hospitals, health systems, community health centers, behavioral health providers and other healthcare organizations on regulatory, compliance and strategic issues, Shipman officials said. At OHS, Jackson advised state officials on major healthcare initiatives, including reforms to Connecticut's Certificate of Need process, health information exchange modernization efforts and statewide healthcare planning. Before joining OHS, Jackson served as health policy counsel for the District of Columbia Council's Committee on Health. He also worked in private practice, advising healthcare providers, pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers on reimbursement, regulatory and compliance matters. Shipman & Goodwin has offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York.
