Linda McMahon last week has stepped down as chief executive officer of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. after announcing her candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat held by Christopher Dodd.
McMahon is also a member of the state board of education. Her appointment to the board was a source of controversy, with some suggesting the WWE has developed a reputation for violence and steroid use.
A video of McMahon apparently kicking someone in the groin during a WWE match contributed to the controversy.
