Senate Dems’ policy director tapped for women’s commission

Carolyn Treiss, policy director of the Senate Democratic Caucus, has been named executive director of the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women.

Treiss previously worked as a legislative program manager at the Department of Social Services from 2009 to 2013. She was also chief of staff for Office of Health Care Access Commissioner Cristine Vogel from 2007 to 2009 and director of NARAL Pro-Choice CT from 2005 to 2007.

In her new role, she succeeds Teresa Younger, who led PCSW for nearly seven years, before taking a job as head of the Ms. Foundation for Women.
