Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra said he has selected Darrell Hill, a former assistant city manager in Virginia, as the city’s next chief operating officer.
The city has not had a permanent COO for several years. The position was last held full-time by David Panagore. Several officials have held acting and interim roles since then.
Hill’s appointment needs city council approval. His salary would be $170,000.
Hill has held several positions within the city government of Norfolk, Va., including director of finance and business services.
In 2006, he was director of the Virginia Resources Authority, a pooled credit agency for local governments.
