Three-foot-tall donut-shaped balloons are going up on Asylum Street parking meters today in an attempt to ramp up excitement for the release of The Simpsons Movie on DVD.
Fox promoters say 51 meters between High and Main streets will be free to parkers from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, because “Hartford is fortunate enough to be ranked amongst the top 20 cities in the U.S. to have the most Simpsons fans” according to Fox.
The free parking is a way to “give back” to the city for its support of the Simpsons franchise; New York City will also see Simpsons-related events.
