Anyone in the market to buy a hotel property in Greater Hartford before year’s end now has another option.
Ten-X, the California auctioneer that will oversee bidding next week for the 388-room Hilton Hartford, has now scheduled a virtual auction of the Sheraton Hartford South, a 250-room hotel located at 100 Capital Boulevard in Rocky Hill.
The starting bid in the Rocky Hill online auction, which will run from Dec. 7 to Dec. 9, is $1.6 million.
The auctions come as the hospitality sector continues to endure steep declines in revenue as leisure and business travel have fallen off a cliff due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and experts forecast that it will take until 2024 or 2025 for revenue to return to normal levels.
Area hotels, including the Sheraton Hartford South, have laid off hundreds of workers this year.
The Rocky Hill hotel, which has 8,600 square feet of meeting and banquet space, is adjacent to I-91 and located within the Corporate Ridge Office Park.
Its current owner is Minnesota-based Merced Capital.
