Listing Agent Marilyn DeRosa of Coldwell Banker Realty said she has shown the home several times and has hosted a couple of open houses since it hit the market about five months ago.
DeRosa said the property would be ideally suited for a large family and would also make a “great Airbnb or a bed and breakfast.”
“There’s so much about this home I love,” DeRosa said. “It is a huge and charming home on a large waterfront overlooking Charles Island, Long Island Sound and the lighthouse on the Housatonic River.”

Just a quick walk to Walnut Beach and Charles Island, the primary home features five bedrooms, 4.5 baths, a custom gourmet kitchen with new quartz counters, new appliances, newer high-end cabinets and a dining area with bamboo hardwood floors. There is a bay window overlooking the Sound on the main level.
There’s also a mud room on the main level with two wall ovens and a large wine cooler. A focal point in the great room/living room on the main level is a large fireplace crafted from local stones and seashells, surrounded by built-in shelves and flanked by white Shiplap wood plank walls and beadboard ceilings. The great room steps down into an enclosed sunroom, complete with six large windows to enjoy views of passing kayakers, boats and the sunrise and sunset.

On the home’s second level, there is a master bedroom suite with its own private deck, bathroom with heated floors and heated towel rack and large walk-in closet. There are two other en-suite bedrooms on the second level.
The home’s third level has been remodeled to include a bedroom with a walk-in closet, full bath, office, sitting room and sliders to a private deck. There’s also a quaint nook for a coffee lover’s barista alcove.
Outside the home’s exterior, there is a large waterside patio with stone columns with built-in sea glass, Trex deck, hot tub, outdoor shower and private mooring on the beach.
DeRosa said a large, painted compass, designed by the late local pilot and WICC broadcaster Morgan Kaolian, graces the 60x20 foot patio. There are 4x6 foot hurricane walls along the first floor exterior.
In addition to the home itself, there is also a detached, furnished guest cottage included in the sale price that could be ideal for extra rental income, DeRosa noted.
