The federal Small Business Administration is offering aid to Fairfield and Litchfield County farm-related ventures, liked fish farms and feed and seed suppliers, hurt by last winter’s late frosts and freezes.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture issued a disaster declaration to certain areas of New York state hit by frigid temps starting March 1, SBA said Monday.
Fairfield and Litchfield county farm-related businesses are eligible because they are contiguous to the disaster area, the agency said.
USDA will take care of aiding farmers and ranchers.
SBA takes cares of everyone else, a spokesman said.
Loans up to $2 million at 3 percent interest for nonprofits, and 4 percent for small businesses, with terms up to 30 years, are available.
Victims have until Feb. 5, 2013 to declare eligibility.
