🔒Saybrook Point Resort completes $8.5M inn renovation

Saybrook Point Resort & Marina has finished renovating more than 82 guest rooms at its Main Inn, completing an $8.5 million project that is part of a broader $14 million reinvestment across the Old Saybrook property over the past three years. The renovation, slated for full completion in May, was designed with New York-based Jeffrey Beers International and draws heavily on the resort’s coastal setting at the confluence of the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound, according to the hotel. The aesthetic incorporates osprey-inspired carpet patterns, warm oak finishes and a palette of deep blues and soft neutrals, with furniture that reinterprets early American and maritime influences through rounded edges, inset panels and tailored upholstery. “This has never been about simply updating rooms — it’s about caring for something we’ve built over generations,” owner Stephen Tagliatela said. “This work reflects our long-term commitment to our guests, our team and the environment around us.” The project also introduced a new bedding program featuring handcrafted mattresses from Connecticut-based Mattress Concierge, updated layouts and layered lighting throughout. Corridor redesigns added textured wallcoverings and brass accents. The resort said it selected PFAS-free upholstery and wall coverings, wool-blend carpeting, throw blankets made from recycled cotton and American-made hardware with high recycled content. Energy-efficient thermostats adjust heating and cooling automatically based on occupancy and balcony door status. The property also plans to add Tesla vehicles for guest use, six Level 2 EV charging stations and Tesla Shingle Solar panels capable of generating an estimated 5% to 10% of the resort’s power needs. The construction work was led by Franklin Enterprises, under project manager Jim Tice.
