Thrift-store retailer Savers is opening a seventh Connecticut store in Brookfield on Thursday that will employ 52 people.
Savers currently has six Connecticut stores that employ 276, a spokeswoman said.
The 27,500-square-foot store at 99 Federal Road stocks recycled women’s and men’s apparel, housewares and electronics.
It also will house a community donation center for residents to drop off reusable clothing and household items at no charge.
Savers said a portion of the sale proceeds from the recycled items will go to its nonprofit partner, Big Brothers Big sisters of Southwestern Connecticut, to support the agency’s community programs and services.
Based in Bellevue, Wash., Savers has some 290 stores in North America under the Savers, Value Village, Village des Valeurs, Unique Thrift Store and Valu Thrift Store banners.
