A Madison nonprofit executive with experience working with the state Department of Developmental Services is the governor’s choice to head the agency.
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Thursday that Terrence W. Macy is the new DDS commissioner
Macy has served as executive director of Sarah Tuxis Residential & Community Resources Inc. since 1990. The nonprofit’s staff of 300 supports individuals with disabilities along the central Connecticut shoreline.
It is one of the largest providers of individual supports of any DDS funded agency in the state, the governor’s office said.
DDS serves more than 19,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities, including more than 4,000 infants and toddlers.
