Santander’s Miree joins Webster Bank

Former Santander Bank retail-banking chief David Miree is now at Webster Bank, overseeing its consumer deposits, investments, and network management.

Monday was Miree’s first day as executive vice president and head of the Waterbury lender’s banking center and customer care center network; consumer deposits; and Webster Investment Services business, the bank said Wednesday.

He succeeds Rose Gaidos, who departed Webster last September, a spokeswoman said. Based in Wallingford, Miree reports to Nitin Mhatre, Webster’s executive vice president for community banking.

Miree was previously with Santander, which he joined in 2011 and was most recently executive vice president and managing director of its U.S. retail network and small-business banking.

Before that, he worked for three years at Wachovia/Wells Fargo Bank in Philadelphia.

He previously served on the Pennsylvania Bank Association; as vice chair of the Dayton (Ohio) Urban League; on the board of directors of Lehigh Valley (Pa.) Chamber of Commerce; and on the business advisory board of at Ohio University, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees and was a Bobcats tight end.

Miree is originally from Cincinnati and is currently relocating to Connecticut from Massachusetts, the bank said.
