Samson succeeds Berkshire’s McQuade

Berkshire Bank has hired away former People’s United Bank senior officer Peter Samson to be its regional commercial-loan chief in Hartford.

Samson is a senior vice president and regional manager at the $6.5 billion-asset Pittsfield, Mass., bank, the lender said.

He succeeds Sheryl McQuade, who ran Berkshire’s Hartford region after its buyout of former Connecticut Bank & Trust but in January joined rival United Bank in Glastonbury as a senior credit officer in its Springfield region office.

He had the same title at People’s United, where he also was assigned to the Bridgeport lender’s Hartford region office.

A 26-year veteran, Samson’s previous stops included TD Bank and Webster Bank.

He received his BS from Central Connecticut State University and an MBA from the University of Hartford.
