Sixty-three people who work for Samantha Bee’s production company in Norwalk will be laid off after TBS announced the cancellation of her late-night TV show.
Producer Chris Savage filed a WARN notice with the state Department of Labor on Aug. 22.
TBS announced that “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee,” a political satire show hosted by the former correspondent for Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” would be canceled following the completion of its seventh season.
TBS, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, has said that it is undergoing a programming strategy shift.
The layoffs were set to begin in late August, with the last employees wrapping up Sept. 30.
Union and nonunion employees affected include seven executive producers, 13 producers, five associate producers, eight writers, eight editors, two wardrobe assistants, one researcher, three co-executive producers, three production assistants, two directors, four accountants, one production coordinator, one production manager, three graphics artists, one field coordinator and one writers assistant.
The final episode of season seven aired on June 23. The production office is at 132B Water St. and stage at 18 Leonard St., both in Norwalk.
