The Bushnell on the Park housing-office-retail complex in the heart of Hartford’s downtown is for sale.
Old Lyme owner Hamilton Point Investments is asking an undisclosed sum for the 129 apartments and adjoining 27,177 square feet of office-retail space at 100 Wells St.
Hamilton Point bought the 12-story property at a “significant discount” in October 2011, after the downtown Hartford landmark sank into foreclosure in 2009. The former owners, Bushnell Regency, stopped making payments on a $12.7 million mortgage.
There are about 51 condominiums in an adjoining tower that are not for sale.
Hamilton Point Principal Matt Kelsey, a critic of Hartford’s high property-tax level, on Wednesday characterized the proposed sale as a routine business transaction.
“We bought the property and spent a lot of money fixing it up and stabilizing it,’’ Kelsey said. “The property is actually performing well.’’
Kelsey said Hamilton chose to list the property without a price, but declined to elaborate further. Hamilton also owns more Connecticut properties, as well as real estate in several other states including Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio and Arkansas.
Listing agent Rick Chozick, of Chozick Realty, didn’t immediately return a call for comment.
