Saint Joseph College said today its new pharmacy school will be housed in 35,000 square feet of downtown’s Hartford 21 commercial-residential complex at 229 Trumbull St.
The three-year pharmacy program will open in fall 2010 with 65 students. It is Saint Joseph’s first school beyond its main West Hartford campus.
“This is a historic day for Saint Joseph College as we build upon our well-regarded health sciences curricula with our first doctoral program — one that will bring talented young professionals to the Hartford community,” Saint Joseph College President Pamela Trotman Reid said in a statement.
Landing the college as a major tenant at Hartford 21 is a key step in developer Northland Investment Corp.’s efforts to realize the project’s full potential.
The 36-story residential tower and adjoining commercial space, which houses the Downtown Hartford YMCA, opened in 2006.
