Health insurer Cigna Corp., with major claims operations in Bloomfield, said Monday it has named former HSBC executive Jason Sadler to lead its Cigna International Health, Life & Accident operations.
Sadler will be based in Hong Kong and will be responsible for expanding the Philadelphia insurer’s business globally. He will report to Cigna International President William L. Atwell.
Sadler spent 16 years at HSBC, most recently as managing director for Hong Kong insurance. He also has worked in the United Kingdom and Singapore and held management positions with AXA Insurance in the United Kingdom and Zurich Financial Services.
Cigna operates health care, group disability and life segments in the U.S. The insurer also sells individual insurance in several countries and operates an expatriate business that covers people living outside their home countries.
Cigna executives have emphasized the company’s international business as a key source of future revenue growth.
Cigna shares climbed 38 cents to $30.72 in morning trading Monday.
