Sacred Heart’s $75K CT grant for Horizons program

Sacred Heart University’s Horizons pupil-training program will use a $75,000 state grant to again bring low-income elementary-aged students to this summer’s learning program on its Fairfield campus.

The operating grant is from Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA), which provided more than $1 million for 2013 programs, shared between 15 grantees.

Last summer, Horizons’ new program brought 32 students entering first and second grade from Bridgeport Public and Cathedral Education Cluster schools to its campus for six weeks, said Horizons Executive Director Greg Middleton.

Sacred Heart’s program is an affiliate of the Horizons National network.
