Sacred Heart University in Fairfield was recognized for its continued sustainability efforts across its collegiate operations.
The school was awarded the Santa Energy Green Business Award at this year’s Bridgeport Regional Business Council event.
Energy efficient measures taken by the school have included implementing single-stream recycling and using hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles for the school’s public safety officers.
Sacred Heart has also held partnerships with utilities United Illuminating and Southern Connecticut Gas for energy-efficient renovating and construction projects, saving the school $650,000 in energy costs over the past decade.
