Alzheimer’s Association state chapter announces new chair

The Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association has announced that Ginge Cabrera will lead its Board of Advisors.

Ending Alzheimer’s is personal for Cabrera, a Greenwich resident who is a long-time volunteer for the organization. She lost her mother, grandmother and an uncle to the disease.

“I was able to turn my pain into passion and my passion is for the work this association does to help those living with Alzheimer’s, their caretakers and to advance research, advocacy and awareness for this horrible disease,” Cabrera said.

Cabrera has worked to grow the chapter’s Celebrating Hope event from a cocktail party to a gala for several hundred people. She joined the board in 2018, and has been a part of its Walk to End Alzheimer’s event for years.

Jennifer Daukas, senior vice president and director of corporate governance at Webster Bank, will serve as board vice chair.
