Finance instructor-researcher Rupendra Paliwal has been named interim dean of Sacred Heart University’s John F. Welch College of Business, succeeding John J. Petillo, who recently took over as the Fairfield university’s interim president.
Paliwal has been the business school’s associate dean for academic affairs since 2010.
He earned an engineering degree and an MBA in finance in his native India. He worked three years on the National Stock Exchange of India before going to the University of Connecticut to get his Ph.D. in finance. He has taught financial management and derivatives and risk Management.
More recently, he spearheaded Welch’s efforts that led to its recent accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
