Sacred Heart University in Fairfield received a $204,461 check last week from the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, bringing its total reimbursements from the fund to $324,293 in the past 12 months.
The awards came from the university’s lighting upgrades and numerous building management system installations. The university also received $104,000 in 2007 for efficiency installations in its recreation halls, academic buildings and recreation center.
“We are pleased to receive this recognition and reward from (United Illuminating) of our ongoing efforts to be more energy efficient by employing the most up-to-date equipment and systems,” Sacred Interim President John J. Petillo in a statement.
The Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund awards money to a variety of energy upgrades to businesses, organizations and homeowners, using funds collected from United Illuminating and Connecticut Light & Power bills.
