S. Windsor manufacturer completes Tokyo buildout

A subsidiary of South Windsor additive manufacturer Oxford Performance Materials Inc. (OPM) is set to launch its new Asian headquarters next week in Tokyo, Japan.

OPM Japan on Wednesday announced that the 6,500-square-foot facility, which will be used for additive manufacturing and office space, will debut next week. The company said the facility will expand its biomedical and dental business presence throughout Asia.

OPM recently trained a group of Japanese hires at its South Windsor headquarters at 30 South Satellite Road.

OPM didn’t disclose the cost of the project, but said it partnered with Tokyo-based materials manufacturer JSR Corp., which is making a “major investment” in the project.

“OPM has truly unique and enabling materials, process and application technologies that have been demonstrated to improve patient wellbeing and improve healthcare treatment,” Nobuo Kawahashi, JSR’s chief operating officer, said in a statement..

“Japan has a unique and growing population that requires the types of devices and treatment options that OPM’s technologies enables, both in the medical and dental fields,” he added.
