Yale University and South Windsor 3D printing manufacturer Oxford Performance Materials said they have launched a joint research program to develop biomedical technologies.
OPM, which makes medical implants and other devices, said it’s interested in the clinical expertise that will be offered by seven of Yale’s faculty members.
Together, they intend to complete 10 projects, including developing facial and cranial devices, printing prosthesis for rib replacement, as well as devices that can assist with vertebral fusion and those that can deliver antibiotics for implant-related infections.
OPM has received more than $3 million in state economic incentives for equipment purchases and building upgrades.
