AGE: 28
TITLE: Account Executive
COMPANY NAME: Clear Channel Media + Entertainment
COMPANY’S LOCATION: Hartford
RESIDENCE: West Hartford
What do you do? I represent the top radio stations in the Connecticut market. I assist local and national companies with new and innovative ways to market themselves. From developing promotional on-sites to clever advertising campaigns, I consider my position to be a marketing consultant as much as a sales representative. I take pride in growing small and large local businesses and activating national programs on a local level.
What do you want to be doing in 10 years? I thoroughly enjoy developing out-of-the-box promotions that platform a company in creative and innovative ways. I could see myself drifting from the sales division and concentrating more on the creative aspects of on-sites and activation elements as a promotion director if not with Clear Channel then with a large national company. The success and proven track record with previous and current clients will surely continue to grow as marketing challenges and technology progress.
What is your biggest strength? Along with my Clear Channel career, I have vested interest in a nightclub in Downtown Hartford where I have obtained valuable experience with grassroots promotions, a specific demographic and the success and failures of what works and doesn’t work. By having very competitive neighbors in the business, we always needed to one-up everyone. Attention to detail, 100% commitment and passion from beginning to end on projects and promotions, and the arsenal of ideas enable me to set myself apart from the competition. These attributes bleed into my everyday challenges from successful to struggling companies.
Where do you go for new ideas? I find myself traveling a lot. I am always paying close attention to events and marketing tactics in different regions of the country. Networking and discussing challenges with everyday businesses allows me to better understand the true objectives to reach success with campaigns. We have a great creative team with a nationwide network for sharing national campaigns, success stories and turn-key promotions.
What is the best advice you received? Don’t live to work and don’t spread yourself too thin. Instead of committing yourself to ten people/places at once, show more concentration on fewer tasks and you will see better success with dedication. Although money makes the world go round, your time, peace and family are priceless pieces of your life that should always come first!
What service or charitable cause has your attention? Stuff-a-Bus/Cruiser, Children’s Medical and The Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation all have a place in my heart. Recently, we have completed fundraisers and charity events for them. People don’t realize that money isn’t everything when contributing to a charitable cause. A crisp $100 bill doesn’t even hold a candle to the smile a $5 teddy bear gives a child. Old toys, books, etc. are hanging around almost every household. New or used, one toy to one kid without a home and family makes all the difference in the world. The amount of toys and books we have collected with our events are overwhelming. The guide dog foundation not only has loving supportive families who raise these puppies but train these animals to become more than ‘man’s best friend.’ For the blind, these dogs have been the only ‘hope’ they will ever receive to live an independent free life.
