Interim Hartford Police Chief James C. Rovella was permanently seated as head of the police force on Tuesday.
Rovella has served as acting police chief since February. Previously, he worked as the head of the Hartford Shooting Task Force.
Mayor Pedro Segarra made the announcement one day after the three finalists from a national search made presentations at a public forum. Rovella abstained from the search process.
Rovella succeeds Chief Daryl K. Roberts, who retired in December.
