Rosetta Stone shares jump after IPO

Shares of language-learning software company Rosetta Stone Inc. are surging in their public debut on the New York Stock Exchange.

It’s the second IPO this week, raising some faint hopes that the market for new public offerings of stock may be thawing. The IPO market all but froze up last year amid the credit crisis and economic downturn.

Renaissance Capital says Rosetta Stone had raised $112.5 million by offering 6.25 million shares at $18. That was above the planned range of $15 to $17.

The shares were up $7.75, or 43.1 percent, at $25.75 in afternoon trading. (AP)
