Zaman Roofing is seeking approval to build a 16,000-square-foot flex building in Berlin that would include space for contractors and a CNC machine shop.
Seweryn Zaman, owner of Zaman Roofing in Newington, filed applications July 9 seeking a special permit and site plan approval for Berlin Flex Center at 567 Wethersfield Road. The 2.31-acre property is in the town’s Planned Industrial zone and is owned by Leaf Stopper LLC, which lists the same contact information as Zaman Roofing.
Plans call for a single low-rise metal building divided into flex bays, with 35 parking spaces and a series of overhead doors facing a paved lot.
The project would require clearing and filling part of an upland regulated area near wetlands, as well as construction of two stormwater basins to manage runoff from the property, according to a project narrative prepared by Millvale-based Kratzert, Jones & Associates, the project’s engineering firm.
The proposal also requires review by Berlin’s Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission.
The Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to open a public hearing on the project at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Town Council Chambers at Berlin Town Hall, 240 Kensington Road. Remote access also will be available.
