Killingly manufacturer Rogers Corp. will acquire a German maker of power components for energy-efficient electric motors for $154 million cash.
The purchase of Curamik Electronics GmbH, of Eschenbach, Germany, makes good on Rogers’ strategy to refocus its product line on sustainable energy, Internet and mass-transit markets.
Curamik makes direct copper bonded ceramic substrate products used in power modules for industrial motors, wind and solar energy converters and hybrid electric vehicle drive systems
Rogers says it will use cash and existing bank credit line to finance the deal.
The purchase will add $115 million to $125 million in annual sales and 20 cents to 30 cents in net earnings to Rogers.
Rogers’ technology chief, Roger Daigle, said the company plans to leverage Curamik’s strong European presence into North American and Asian markets.
