Rogers’ 1Q net grows on record sales

Rogers Corp. had record first-quarter sales that contributed to a 38 percent rise in net profits for the Killingly maker of specialty components for cell phones and other portable electronic devices.

In three months ended March 31, Rogers earned $9.4 million, or 57 cents a share, up from $6.9 million, or 43 cents a share, earned the same quarter a year ago.

First-quarter sales rose 62 percent to $136.1 million vs. $83.9 million last year.

Revenue and earnings exceeded its first-quarter guidance back on Feb. 17 of $123 million to $127 million of revenue and earnings of 49cents to 53 cents share diluted.

Rogers makes, among other things, printed circuit boards and foam materials used in wireless and other portable electronic devices.
